Hi There! I’m Tiffany
You deserve this space
As a human…
As a woman of color myself who has also been in therapy, I understand the strong preference of wanting a therapist who is both knowledgeable and sensitive towards the unique experiences of women of color and who specializes in areas of growth that are relevant to your mental health needs. As your therapist, I want to support your growth in purposeful challenge, and provide a nonjudgmental space when exploring how your layered identity and cultural values play a role in your healing.
Finally, I understand how it feels to go through the vulnerable process of seeking help while feeling guarded, frustrated, and hopeless. The first time I went to therapy was while I was a graduate student, and I recognized the need to heal my relationship with myself, process my trauma, and learn to manage my anxiety. As I slowly learned to peel back my defensive layers, I was able to create space to develop skills that helped me feel more steady to take on life’s challenges.
I want this for you too. You deserve this space.
A few personal facts about me: I am a millennial Filipina American cisgender woman (she/her). I’ve lived in both rural and urban areas of NorCal, Central Cal, and SoCal (my current home!). I am allergic to the gym, but I enjoy home workouts while watching crime shows. I am a mother of plants. My favorite books to read are dystopian novels, memoirs, and poetry.
As a professional…
I am licensed in California with over 7 years of experience. I served my community as a social worker in child welfare where I developed a strong understanding of the effects of child abuse on one’s overall well-being. I also provided care as a clinical therapist for non-profit community mental health where I facilitated therapy to help my clients gain coping skills, navigate difficult family dynamics, and heal from trauma.
My approach prioritizes the client-therapist relationship, which research shows to be the most important factor contributing to a client’s success. I use a mind-body therapy approach with sensitivity towards practices that show efficacy for people of color, and that includes somatic, cognitive behavioral, and psychodynamic based therapies. I believe that each person’s healing journey is unique and that a therapeutic modality or practice is meant to fit the person, not the other way around.
